Science Led Ingredients

Each of our ingredients has been specially chosen to do what it’s supposed to do. Our thoughtful selection process starts with a 4-step evaluation of performance, safety, sourcing, and environmental impact before they make it into our products.

E

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E is skincare’s secret weapon against cell damage. A powerful antioxidant, it’s known to help your skin’s defence against free radicals – unstable molecules that can cause damage to skin cells – while helping to keep it moisturised.

HA

HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid is already in our skin so don’t be put off by the sciency term. The skincare wonder works to retain water and leave your skin hydrated. In our products, HA speeds up that process and ensures it happens effectively to keep your skin feeling nourished and hydrated. This super acid can attract up to 1000 times its weight in water to give you even more hydrated and plumper-looking skin. It’s no surprise it’s become a must-have ingredient.

GA

GLYCOLIC ACID

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (or AHA) that helps exfoliate the skin. It does this by helping shed dead skin cells to reveal the healthier, brighter skin cells underneath. Unlike its citric acid siblings, glycolic acid is smaller in molecular weight, which means it absorbs and gets to work on your skin quicker.

LA

LACTIC ACID

Lactic acid, like all alpha hydroxy acids (or AHAs), helps to exfoliate your skin. It’s milder than some acids, which makes it perfect for sensitive skin. It’s also known to help improve skin discolouration by reducing pigmentation – where excess melanin production has caused darker patches – and generally improves skin texture.

CA

CITRIC ACID

As an alpha hydroxy acid (or AHA), citric acid’s main benefit is helping remove dead skin cells to leave your face feeling smoother and looking more radiant. Unlike other acids, however, it has antioxidant properties and helps balance the pH of the formulation it’s in to be effective yet gentle on skin.

MA

MALIC ACID

Another alpha hydroxy acid (or AHA), derived from many fruits including apples, malic acid helps exfoliate the skin to improve the tone and smoothness. Like citric acid, it also helps ward off blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles. Malic acid is even larger than glycolic and lactic acids meaning that it is less irritating to skin, we usually use these 3 wonder acids together to get more benefits.

SA

SALICYLIC ACID

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (or BHA). It’s a keratolytic (peeling agent), so it works as a great exfoliant – like AHAs – but is oil-soluble so it can penetrate and reduce pre size more effectively, helping to ward off blackheads. That means it's also very effective for skin prone to breakouts.

ZO

ZINC OXIDE

Zinc oxide is a natural white, powdery mineral most often found in your SPF. Its antibacterial properties also make it great for helping clear out bad bacteria standing in its way. It’s also used as a bulking agent, which helps make lotions and creams spread kindly onto your skin.

S

SULFUR

Sulfur is a powder element that helps dry the surface of your skin, clearing excess oil that may cause breakouts. This means it’s great at drying out annoying spots. It’s also a keratolytic agent – a compound that aids exfoliation by breaking down and softening the layer of keratin in your skin.

N

NIACINAMIDE B3

This naturally-occurring form of Vitamin B3 boasts a huge range of benefits in skincare. It helps refine pores and regulate sebum levels, which in turn not only helps reduce breakouts but also skin pigmentation and ease redness. Uniquely, it also acts to help other cells work more effectively to help strengthen skin barrier. A true team player.

P

PANTHENOL B5

Pro-vitamin B5 is a form of Vitamin B5 and when absorbed by skin, it helps skin to attract and bind water to hydrate it. It has also great soothing benefits. It helps improve skin texture, which leaves you with conditioned and smoother skin.

GL

GLYCERIN

If you struggle with dry skin, one thing you’ll often be after in products is glycerin. It is a humectant, derived from plant sources, which means it has the ability to attract water to itself. It acts like a sponge that pulls in water from deeper layers of the skin or from the air in humid environments, keeping the skin moisturised and leaving it soft and smooth.

A

ALLANTOIN

A non-irritating ingredient that has a knack for soothing, so it's perfect for softening and conditioning the skin. If you’ve got sensitive skin, its soft touch helps protect and nurture it.

Z

ZINC PCA

This salt-based derivative active of Zinc is ideal for blemish-prone skin. It is perfect to help keep oiliness at bay as it helps to regulate sebum and minimise the appearance of pores. It also has fantastic moisturising and hydrating properties so won’t dry out your skin.
